The former PP councilor in Navalmoral de la Mata, Paula González Morato, published on Friday night, at the close of the electoral campaign in Extremadura, a letter in which she explains the reasons that led her to leave that party after denouncing the behavior and “sexist treatment” of the current mayor of that town, Enrique Hueso. Both the mayor and the regional president and candidate for the Board, María Guardiola, as well as other officials of that formation, have denied the facts and disqualified the councilor by stating that her actions had been the result of political spite for not having entered the electoral lists. González Morato explains in his letter that his resignation and his denunciation were neither “sudden nor the result of an impulse,” but rather the consequence of a discontent communicated to the party since the beginning of the year. The councilor complains that after having formally requested “protection, listening and mediation” she did not receive any response: “Neither measures were adopted nor solutions offered.”
The former member of the PP now not attached to that party explains in her letter, published at the close of the campaign for the regional elections this Sunday in Extremadura, that her “only intention was always to be able to work in an environment of respect and dignity”, but she regrets that due to the lack of measures on the part of the party after her warnings she had to leave and raise her discomfort: “That lack of response was, for me, especially painful.” The councilor emphasizes that the situation she suffered has been corroborated by an audio from the party spokesperson.
The councilor regrets the lack of action of the PP in general but saves and appreciates the “attitude of listening and concern” of the regional spokesperson of the party, José Ángel Sánchez Jullá, although she recognizes that “it did not ultimately translate into concrete actions.” González Morato affirms in his letter that he will continue working at the City Council: “I do not write these lines out of confrontation or resentment. I do so from the need to explain my truth and defend my dignity. I will continue working with responsibility, honesty and commitment for the residents of Navalmoral de la Mata, with the sincere desire that dialogue and respect always continue to be the way.”
After the mayor’s complaints became known this week, the still mayor of Navalmoral, Enrique Hueso, denied these accusations of “sexist treatment” and “abuse of power,” and announced that he will take legal action. The current leadership of the Extremaduran PP also tried to discredit the councilor by relating her revelations to the fact that it had been decided that she would not enter the electoral lists of this 21-D, as stated by María Guardiola herself, and the current general secretary of the party, Abel Bautista, even assured that they had evidence that she had met in recent days with PSOE officials in the Community.
