Bolivia dreams nice. The Bolivian team has won the first of two games that could place it in the World Cup after 30 years. This Thursday, in full royal sunshine, the Bolivians came back against Suriname in the last 20 minutes to advance to the round and now face, next Tuesday the 31st, Iraq in the match that will define one of the last invitees to the largest tournament in history with 48 teams.

Both teams started the match timid and tense. The first 15 minutes of the match, Bolivia tried to be more proactive by opening the field in search of spaces to penetrate Surinamese territory. The Suriboys They maintained a compact and closed block on their side of the court waiting for La Verde’s mistake.
Suriname’s best attempts came in the Bolivian team’s mistakes when looking for spaces. It was at these moments when the Caribbean midfielders tried to surprise the La Verde defense with their speed. However, the first clear chance of the game did not come until the 20th minute, through a shot from Ramiro Vaca, who shot from outside the six-yard box and the Caribbean goalkeeper cleared it towards the corner.
Suriname’s first response came in the 29th minute. The Caribbean warned of their presence in the game through a combination between midfielder Gyrano Kerk and Joël Piroe, the Leeds United striker, which goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra cleared. The second chance for the Suriboys came just four minutes later. The Bolivian goalkeeper from Alianza Lima, from Peru, was put to the test once again, silencing the Surinamese cry for a goal with a clearance based on pure reflex. At that point in the game, Viscarra already established himself as the figure under the three suits.
Although Bolivia had more than 50% of the possession, seven shots and three shots on goal, Suriname was the team with the clearest proposal. The first goal of the match came just beginning the second half. Appealing to the formula that worked for Suriname, they arrived again on the wings. A poorly cleared ball in the Bolivian defensive zone favored Liam van Gelderen to push it into the back of the net.
From the 60th minute, with the result in their favor, Suriname began to play with the nerves and anxiety of Bolivia. The game was no longer so fluid due to the constant losses of time by the Suriboys. The length of the Suriname goalkeeper’s goal kicks brought back, on up to three occasions, the homophobic shout prohibited by FIFA. However, the referee in charge of the match did nothing to prevent this breach of the rule.
And everything changed for Bolivia in the 71st minute. The newly introduced Moisés Paniagua took advantage of another bad clearance in the Surinamese defense to place it on the right post of goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen who could not reach it. Six minutes later another Bolivian blow would arrive. Suriname lowered the intensity after the first goal, which caused Bolivia to begin pressing in three quarters of the field. That presence at the top and the movement from side to side of La Verde caused a foul in the small area on Juan Godoy. The referee signaled a penalty for those led by Óscar Villegas. Miguel Terceros, player of Santos from Brazil, scored from the 12th step to give his team the advantage. Goal and explosion of joy for the 33,557 fans who attended the BBVA Stadium.
Monterrey is one of the three World Cup cities in Mexico and three group stage matches and one round of 32 matches will be played on its field. Likewise, the match between Japan and Tunisia, on June 20, will become the 1,000th match in the history of the World Cup.
