The National Police has opened an investigation after a homeless person has declared that he was sprinkled with flammable liquid and set him on fire while sleeping in a street in Malaga in the early hours of this Friday. The injured, 44 years old and of Lithuanian nationality, has been transferred to a hospital in the capital of Malaga to be treated for burns. Police sources have confirmed that they try to clarify what happened and that, for the moment, there are no detained people.
The alleged aggression took place this morning at Maestro Chapí Street, in the east of the city of Malaga, very close to the high -speed trains station, as the newspaper has advanced Malaga today. About 2.30 in the morning a 061 sanitary team warned 112 Andalusia to the emergency service after serving a person who was sleeping on public roads. The victim had reported an aggression and requested the presence of the National Police.
The man assured that he had been burned and that he believed that he had been sprayed with an flammable liquid and that they had then set fire. After being attached to 061, the affected one was transferred to the University Clinical Hospital of Malaga with several burns in the body.
From their statements, the National Police has opened an investigation to clarify what happened and determine the causes of the burns that the male suffers. They are also trying to find out the author or authors of the alleged aggression, according to police sources, which stand out that there have been no arrests.
“We condemn the brutal aggression to a homeless man in sostoa hero. He was set on fire while sleeping. We demanded justice and real protection for those who live on the street. Enough of violence! No one without home, no one without rights,” the Arrabal Aid association has denounced in X (formerly Twitter), who works with homeless people.
