Two fugitives from French justice were arrested during the early hours of Thursday in Benidorm. One of them was surprised in a nightlife store of the Alicante tourist colossus, while the other was arrested in the luxury villa that both had become their operations base. Between the two accumulated four arrest orders issued by the authorities of France, which accuse them of several crimes of homicide, arms and drug trafficking, and money laundering, for which they would face penalties that add 40 years in jail. After the arrest, the two have passed available to the National Court, which will determine their extradition.
The fugitives consisted of their country’s police archives as members of an organized criminal gang dedicated to drug trafficking. They were lost track after they starred in a violent shooting in the town of Montereau-Fault-Yonne, a small population of 23,177 inhabitants located just under 100 kilometers southeast of Paris. One of the two arrested had been kidnapped by a rival band and the other, after organizing its rescue, returned the coup against members of the rival group. The Galas authorities followed their track and informed the Spanish Police that both could have crossed the border and would have established themselves in Spain.
Search operations fell to Group 1 of fugitive location of the Organized Drug and Crime Unit (UDYCO) and the Sirene España office, responsible for police cooperation in the European Union. The trail left by the two fugitives led to a huge luxury villa in Benidorm that is offered as a holiday housing. Well located, surrounded by hedges and with three floors full of rooms and windows from where complete surveillance could be established, the house had become the fort in which the two alleged French drug traffickers could be safe. However, the police operation, which joined Group 1 of Organized Crime of the Judicial Police of Alicante, the Unit for the Prevention and Reaction of the Benidorm Police Station and the drones of the Police Air Unit based in Alicante found two snacks for which he could capture the two dangerous criminals.
First, the agents verified that one of the two drug traffickers had gone to an leisure place in Benidorm. It was, according to the French authorities, the person responsible for the accounting of the criminal group, which closed business with customers. They consisted of three arrest warrants against him, for the alleged crimes of homicide, belonging to criminal organization, drug trafficking and money laundering, for which he can end up in prison up to 30 years. During his capture, the agents detected the use of numerous SIM cards that he used to hinder his tracking while communicating by phone. It was he, according to the Gendarmes, who plotted the shooting of Montereau-Fault-Yonne.
In order for the news of the first arrest not to activate the escape of the second drug trafficker, the agents immediately moved to the villa in which they both resided. That was where they took advantage of the fact that the lot adjacent to the house was empty. Several policemen jumped the fence and sneaked into the residence to give access to their peers. Once inside the plot, they threw the door down with a large deck and agreed to the interior, where they surprised the second fugitive, which is recorded eight crimes for drug trafficking, which was arrested and transferred to a police vehicle. Both are in custody until the National Court resolves its extradition.
