Asturias | Stabilized the Narcea Cangas Fire
The fire unleashed in the immediate vicinity of Cobos, in the Council of Cangas del Narcea, is already stabilized and, although there are still another eight foci in points of the Asturian southwest, European and mountain range peaks, the concern now focuses on two fires that advance towards the Principality from the Leonese regions of Villablino (Orallo) and moors of the Sil.
“We are concerned about the two great fires that come from León,” said the Emergency Management Minister of the Principality, Alejandro Calvo, who has stressed that the community has to be prepared in case they exceed the limit.
In fact, in the Genestoso Zone, also in Cangas del Narcea, there are already firefighters and aerial media work, the counselor said, which has announced that in the next few hours they will be added to the device deployed by the Principality a hundred members of the military emergency unit. It has also been required, and will arrive in the next Horadas, members of the Forest Reinforcement Brigade (BRIF) that the central government has settled in the neighboring Council of Tineo.
Calvo has acknowledged that today “has been a long night” that forced to raise the forest plan of the Principality to the emergency level because the southern component wind fueled the flames in the Cobos fire. However, he said that the effort of firefighters, municipal troops, Civil Guard and the “indispensable and exemplary work of the neighbors” has allowed “saving the situation quite well” and arriving in the morning with the stabilized fire and without flames, although with heat points that are still cooling and being subject to surveillance.
Calvo has affirmed that the causes that caused this fire are still unknown, but that yesterday there was no electrical apparatus in the area, so it is possibly due to human action, which will have to wait for research to know how it originated.
During the night the third fire recorded in Cangas del Narcea, Vallado, and worked on the control of the fire unleashed in Lebredo, in the council of Coaña, “which evolves favorably” and to which the Tineo BRIF possibly moves. (EFE)
