The international community welcomes the agreement and hopes it will bring lasting peace
Once the agreement between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza is known, many leaders of the international community celebrate the window of opportunity for peace. Thus, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has written in X that “peace is near” and that Italy, “which has always supported the US peace plan, is prepared to do its part to consolidate the ceasefire, provide humanitarian aid and participate in the reconstruction of Gaza.” She states that she is even willing to send troops to an eventual international peacekeeping force.

India: The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has celebrated the pact between Israel and Hamas, and believes that it reflects “the firm leadership” of his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu. He has written in
Pakistan: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the understanding “is a historic opportunity to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East.” Sharif has praised that “the leadership of President (of the United States, Donald) Trump throughout the process of dialogue and negotiations reflects his unwavering commitment to world peace” and has praised the “decided” role of the mediators: Qatar, Egypt and Turkey. Finally, he asks to “pay tribute to the Palestinian people, who have suffered in an unprecedented way and that should never be repeated.”
Malaysia: The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, has welcomed the agreement with “hope”, which comes “after months of suffering” and has asked all those involved to make an “effort” to put an end to the violence. He criticized Israel’s “brutality” and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people during a massive event of solidarity with Palestine held in a stadium in Kuala Lumpur, urging all parties to “move towards peace.”
