Israeli tanks and drones open fire in different parts of Gaza despite the ceasefire
Israeli tanks and drones opened fire early this Wednesday against different points in the north of the Strip and also against the southern city of Rafah, hitting some of the tents of displaced people in the Mawasi area, despite the declared ceasefire. At the moment, no fatalities or injuries have been reported.
For more than thirty minutes, Israeli tanks and drones were opening fire early this Wednesday on the points designated by Israel as a “militarized zone” in the Shujaiya neighborhood of Gaza City, in the north of the Strip. There are no Gazans living in these “red” spots, but there are in the other neighborhood areas of Shujaiya, one of the largest in the Gazan capital.
Attacks by the Israeli naval fleet were also recorded against fishermen west of the Al Shati camp, also in Gaza City, and against Rafah, whose shots hit some of the tents of displaced families in the Mawasi area, a point designated by Israel as “humanitarian.”
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Strip came into effect at noon last Friday, after the approval by both parties of the twenty-point agreement promoted by the United States, although so far only its first phase has been implemented, which involves the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners and the cessation of hostilities. However, this is the second day in which Israeli attacks against the Palestinian enclave have been reported, after yesterday Israel killed at least six people also in the Shujaiya neighborhood, in an incident in which the Israeli army claimed that they were Gazans who had crossed the “yellow line” of the ceasefire agreement.
According to Health, these were people who were trying to get home to check their status, after being displaced from there by Israel’s attacks to take Gaza City. The so-called “yellow line” in the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas marks the point to which Israeli troops have withdrawn. However, it has not been explained exactly where this line runs and the media have only had access to a very poorly detailed map with the lines of withdrawal that does not make it possible to know its limits.
