Evo Morales says he does not support any presidential candidate in the Bolivian elections
The former president of Bolivia Evo Morales assured that for him and his followers “there is no second round.” “I only attend to fulfill an electoral, democratic mission. There has been a vote, but no president has been elected,” he said in an interview with Kawsachun Coca radio. The indigenous leader claimed the 19% of votes that were annulled, an option for which he campaigned in the first round on August 17.
Morales criticized the efforts of both candidates to reopen relations with the United States. “When I was a candidate, I never thought about the United States, I promised austerity, self-effort, and that’s how we demonstrated it.” He also criticized the will of both Jorge Quiroga and Ricardo Paz to reform the Constitution: “It must be modified and improved, but with the participation and vote of the people, not with two-thirds of the Assembly as intended.”
Morales affirmed that from his refuge in Chapare, where he has so far managed to avoid an arrest warrant against him, the social achievements of his Government will be defended.
