The richest man in Mexico, Carlos Slim, redoubles his bet in Pemex. Through his company, Grupo Carso, the Mexican tycoon will invest 1,991 million dollars in drilling about thirty oil wells in the Ixachi field, in Veracruz. The tycoon, with a fortune of around 100,000 million dollars, has signed a service contract developed and financed with Pemex. “The object of the contract considers the drilling and termination of up to 32 wells within a period of three years, which will contribute to a substantial increase in production in the oil and gas field. The source and payment mechanism of the contract will be through the income obtained from the commercialized hydrocarbons of the assignment itself,” said the company in writing.
Grupo Carso details that Pemex will begin to pay the drilling of these wells until January 2027 and in 21 monthly payments for each well delivered from the corresponding date. For the date of the first payment, in January 2027, it is estimated to have a dozen wells in production. If the 32 wells are perforated, the maximum amount of the contract is the amount of 1,991 million dollars, including its financing, amount that will be lower in case of drilling less wells, maintaining the same financing formula.
The Ixachi field is considered one of the most important land fields in the country, currently has a daily production of around 93,000 barrels of oil and 715 million cubic feet of gas, which is equivalent to a total of 236,000 barrels per day of equivalent oil. To date, a total of 28 wells have been drilled in the field at an average depth of 7,650 meters, within which Grupo Carso, through its subsidiaries, has participated in its perforation.
Through its companies, the Mexican millionaire states that it has 18 years of experience in land, marine and platform construction services: “Grupo Carso has 19 equipment for land drilling of different dimensions and three marine drilling equipment. The experience of these subsidiaries of Grupo Cars Substantial balances pending collection for works already executed, ”concludes the company.
Since the previous six -year term, the Mexican millionaire has increased its energy projects by the hand of the PEMEX parastatal. Among the magnate oil projects are their participation in the Lakach Natural Gas Project and in oil companies such as Energy Talos. The announcement of this new investment occurs a few months after the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced her strategic plan for the oil company to 10 years, a road map in which, again, the private ones will play a strategic role. With a financial debt for more than 98,000 million dollars and with suppliers for more than 20,000 million dollars, Pemex will take hands of mixed projects, such as this, to raise the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons and natural gas.
