A 55 -year -old man has been sentenced to more than 18 months in prison by an Indiana Judge (United States) after declaring himself on Monday to harass and harass the young star of the WNBA Caitlin Clark.
The inmate, identified as Michael Lewis, was arrested last January 12 at a hotel in Indianapolis accused of sending sexually violent threats to social networks to the Indiana Faver player.
“I have been driving through your house three times a day, but do not call the police, the public can drive through the Gainbridge area (the Faver stadium in Indianapolis), also known as Caitlin Fieldhouse,” Lewis wrote in one of the messages, collected in US media.
Lewis declared this Monday guilty of the charges during a hearing in the Superior Court of Marion County. His conviction will pass – from which he has already turned more than six months – at the Marion County Adult Detention Center, which he entered after his arrest. In addition, he received the order to avoid any type of contact with Clark, the Gainbridge Fieldhouse – a stadium of the Faver – and any event organized by the franchise, as well as not using the Internet during his time in prison. The judge recommended that she received treatment for her mental health.
This Monday’s audience was interrupted several times by Lewis’s attitude. During a statement before the court, Lewis said his actions aimed to highlight Clark’s security concerns.
Clark, the great figure of American female basketball, considered a generational talent and chosen with the number one – novate of the year – by the Faver in the ‘Draft’ of 2024, is 23 years old and currently disputes its second season in the WNBA. The player said she felt threatened by those messages and that she has been afraid for her safety.
