The confrontation between Milei and Macri scale with accusations of spurious pacts, nervousness and hallucinations

The imminence of the elections exacerbates the pulse between Javier Milei and former president Mauricio Macri for keeping the scepter of the right in Argentina. The confrontation intensified in recent days, after the failure in the Congress of a draft “clean file”. That rule sought to prevent them from being candidates who have a condemnation for corruption confirmed in the second instance and, in fact, would have implied the electoral exclusion of Cristina Kirchner. Milei and Macri accused each other of having agreed with the former Peronist ex -president so that the law was not approved. “There was an agreement between Cristina and Macri to get dirty to me,” said President Ultra. Macri replied that these statements were “really a serious hallucination.”

The parties headed by Milei and Macri – La Libertad Avanza and the Pro – will star in next Sunday’s dispute in the legislative elections of the City of Buenos Aires. The capital of the country is governed by the PRO since 2007 and the libertarians aspire to dethrone it. So much so that Milei has actively participated in the electoral campaign and has postulated his spokesman, Manuel Adorni, at the head of the list.

The fall of “Clean Card”, last Thursday, opened countless speculation. The project that promoted both the pro and lla, and that resisted Peronism, was rejected by the lack of a vote. In the outcome, the sudden change of two legislators in the province of Misiones, usual allies of the libertarian government was decisive. The leader of the aforementioned missionaries, former governor Carlos Rovira, let it transcend that the change was due to an express request from Milei, to whom Cristina Kirchner’s participation should be conducted to polarize the elections.

While Milei has long usufructed the parliamentary support of Macri to govern, an alliance between his matches has never been formalized, despite the fact that they represent related electorates and intend to lead the antiperonist vote. In the face of this year’s elections, there were only specific agreements in some districts. The discussion about a possible national alliance or, at least, in the populous province of Buenos Aires promised to settle, for or against, with the result and tenor of the dispute in the Argentine capital. The issue will begin to go this Sunday, but, for now, the second option seems to prevail.
