Stable weather returns to almost the entire country, after these days of orange and red warnings, floods and material damage, especially in the Valencian Community, Catalonia, Murcia and the Balearic Islands. This Wednesday dawns with few active warnings – only some yellow ones – in areas of Galicia, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the most notable thing will be the possibility of intense rains in the north of Catalonia, especially in the Pyrenees, without ruling them out in other mountain areas, especially in the east of the peninsula. Rubén del Campo, Aemet spokesperson, assures that “during the rest of the week a generally stable weather situation will prevail, although precipitation may still occur in the Mediterranean area and storms will also form in mountain areas, mainly.”
According to this meteorologist, temperatures will drop slightly, although they will continue to be higher than usual in the west of the peninsula and will remain at normal values for this time in the rest of the country.
The day will be marked by the persistence of a cold mass at altitude over the eastern peninsula and the Balearic Islands, which will maintain some instability in this area, although with a tendency to subside. The skies will be cloudy in the middle and lower Ebro, the Valencian and Balearic coasts, with less intense rains than in previous days. In the afternoon, evolution clouds will form in the interior of the peninsula with isolated storms in Catalonia, which may also occur in southern Iberia and the southeast of the peninsula.
In the rest of the country, slightly cloudy skies will predominate, although morning fog banks will form in areas of the north and east, denser and more persistent in the province of Lugo. Temperatures will remain without major changes: somewhat cooler in the north, but with high values for the season in the west of the peninsula, where Ourense, Seville and Córdoba will reach 32 degrees. In the Canary Islands there will be abundant cloudiness with a low probability of rain.
Always according to Del Campo, the winds will blow from the east and northeast on the coasts, with intervals of intensity in the north of Galicia and the Strait, and variable lightness in the interior. In the Canary Islands, light winds from the north and west will predominate.
Thursday and Friday will continue with stable weather in most of the country. Showers are only expected in the peninsular Mediterranean area, the Balearic Islands and inland mountain areas. In the west of the peninsula the atmosphere will be warm, with temperatures that will exceed 30 degrees in Badajoz, Córdoba and Seville, and will be close to that figure in the south of Galicia. Madrid will reach 25 degrees, while Salamanca and Zamora will be around 27.
On Saturday the weather will remain stable, although the arrival of a front from the northwest may leave weak rains in Galicia and, more specifically, in Asturias and the Cantabrian Mountains. Rainfall could also be recorded on the Catalan coast. Temperatures will barely vary, but they will rise in the Cantabrian Sea due to the southerly winds: Bilbao could reach 30 degrees, like Badajoz, Ourense or Seville.
According to the Aemet spokesperson, uncertainty increases on Sunday, but everything indicates that the front from the previous day will advance eastward, leaving rain in Galicia and the Cantabrian communities, and perhaps in other areas of the northwest. In the north of the Mediterranean area, some rainfall could occur again, especially on the Catalan coast.
