Trump to speak before Israeli Parliament on Monday
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, will speak this Monday before the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) during his visit to Israel, within the framework of the agreement for the release of hostages and the partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza agreed with the Islamist group Hamas. In a statement, the Knesset has reported that President Trump will be received on Monday in the Israeli Parliament by its president, Amir Ohana, and the country’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. There, the American president will address the plenary session of the Knesset “on the occasion of the signing of the agreement and the return of the hostages,” according to the institution.
Trump thus becomes the fourth US president to speak before the Israeli Parliament, after Jimmy Carter (1979), Bill Clinton (1994) and George Bush (2008).
“As part of the preparations for the presidential visit, the Knesset building was illuminated in the colors of the flags of Israel and the United States: blue, white and red,” the Knesset added in its communication. After his visit to Israel, Trump will travel to Egypt, where he will participate in an international summit to “end the war” in the Strip with the signing of the peace plan in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh, which will be held on Monday. The event will feature the participation of leaders from more than 20 countries. Among them, the Spanish Pedro Sánchez, the French Emmanuel Macron and the British, Keir Starmer. (EFE)
